Chris Lambton and his wife Peyton announced the arrival of daughter Lyla James on Instagram Tuesday
Surprise: It’s a girl!
“Happy to announce the addition to our family Lyla James. Baby and mom are both doing great! #BabyLambton @peytonwlambton #imadad,” Chris, who hosts Yard Crashers, captioned a photo of the trio in the hospital.
Born at 9:54 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Lyla weighed in at 8 lbs., 8 oz. and measured 21 inches long, the couple’s rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.
“Lyla means beautiful island girl, and being from Cape Cod and that she is beautiful, we thought it was perfect. Her middle name James is named after both our father’s first names,” the Lambtons tell PEOPLE.
“We couldn’t be more excited to grow our family. She is the first Lambton girl after six straight Lambton boys, so our family is excited about what her energy will bring to our group. Plus, she is going to be spoiled and have three older boy cousins to protect her!”
Peyton, 33, revealed in her pregnancy blogs that she and her husband decided not to find out the baby’s sex prior to giving birth.
“Once we announced to our friends and family, everyone wanted to know if we were going to find out the gender. This is a natural question, and I always thought I would want to know,” the PEOPLE.com blogger wrote in October.
“I consider myself an organized person, and I imagined that it would be much easier to plan the nursery and to have everything in order if we knew the gender. My husband had a different opinion, and really did not want to know. We went back and forth, but ultimately decided that we would not find out.”
The Going Yard co-host continued: “The process of going through IVF doesn’t allow for many surprises. I was very open with my friends and family about what I was going through, so no one was surprised when we finally announced we were pregnant. Now we have the opportunity to be surprised and to surprise everyone around us.”
Chris, who came second on Ali Fedotowsky’s season, proposed to Peyton (a past Bachelor and Bachelor Pad contestant) with a David Yurman round cut diamond ring at his house in Cape Cod in June 2011.
“I knew it the first day I met her – she walked in and I was like, ‘Oh, my God,’ ” Chris, 39, told PEOPLE of Peyton, whom he met through fellow Bachelorette contestant, Jesse Beck.
