Their love story started off with a whirlwind trip around the world — and now J.P. and Ashley Hebert Rosenbaum‘s journey has taken them right into parenthood.

The former Bachelorette and the recipient of her final rose — her husband! — were showered with love during a travel-themed baby bash at General Assembly on July 19 in New York City.

“J.P. and I have also done a ton of traveling throughout our relationship, so it only seemed appropriate since travel is such a huge part of our lives,” the mom-to-be tells PEOPLE exclusively.

As they made their way into the party, which was hosted by Minted, the expectant parents — who will welcome a son in October — stopped to pose for pictures outside of the restaurant before joining family and friends inside.

Although the travel motif she chose for baby boy’s nursery was incorporated into the chic shower, Hebert was shocked by all the sweet surprises and decorative touches around the room.

“I really didn’t want to know anything about the shower prior to my arrival,” she says. “My vision for the baby shower was to have a small, chic gathering with my closest friends and family. I wanted to be sure that I had time to sit and chat with each and every person that took time out of their lives to celebrate with us!”

Guests — who were invited to the event with Minted’s Petit Rattle invites — were surrounded by cake stands adorned with toy airplanes and baby books as they noshed on platters of red quinoa, fava and avocado, tomato hummus and an assortment of sweet treats.

And while Hebert couldn’t get enough of the delicious delicacies, the most memorable moment of the shower came when she was presented with a custom album filled with pictures of her partygoers posing in the photo booth to accompany a few words of wisdom for the future family of three.

“Each guest took a Polaroid in the photo booth and adhered it to a page in a scrapbook along with a piece of advice for us and a wish for baby R.  So cute!” Hebert says of her “favorite memory.”

The afternoon’s activities also included a fun “Who Knows Mama Ash?” quiz and a paper airplane station, complete with instructions on how to build a mini model for baby boy. After everyone had a chance to make their own, the paper planes were strung together to make a mobile for the couple’s nursery.

“The travel and Petit Rattle theme were perfectly blended for an elegant baby event,” Hebert says. “On that same note, we chose the Sea Fever print for Baby R’s nursery because it went along with the travel theme.”

Surrounded by her group of girlfriends, Hebert opened her pile of presents, including a onesie adorned with a red rose, a blanket from Little Giraffe, a teddy bear and a blue anchor sun hat — which the mom-to-be happily tried on herself.

Before guests headed home, Hebert and her gal pals were gifted luxe travel bags from Henri Bendel.

The couple aren’t done traveling just yet: they recently packed their bags and moved from New Jersey to their new home in Florida.

“My most cherished moments were the ones we were able to spend with our family and friends for the last time all together in New York City,” Hebert shares. “Our move even goes along with the travel theme!”

And with the big move behind them, the mom-to-be is focusing on her future. “I am most looking forward to spending some quiet, quality time with my little baby boy and my big baby boy,” she says.

“I keep telling J.P. that I daydream about giving Baby R a bath, lathering him with lotion, then putting him in the cutest sleeper and rocking him to sleep.”

She jokingly adds, “I’m not sure if it will all happen as peacefully as I imagine, but I can’t wait to find out!”
