Forget the sleepless nights. For Audrina Patridge, the hardest adjustment to new motherhood was getting used to nursing.

“Breastfeeding was the most painful thing,” Patridge, whose daughter Kirra Max is now 12 weeks old, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “For me, it was more painful than the c-section!”

The Hills former cast member — who now runs a lifestyle blog, — says she learned to “push through” the pain, and eventually survived intact.

“The first two to three weeks were excruciating,” says Patridge, 31. “But I got through it!”

“I slept on the couch for a week. My grandma came and helped for a week. It was crazy!” Patridge admits of some of the other difficulties she experienced in bringing a baby home for the first time.

But as any new mom would likely admit after coming out on the other side, the challenges are all worth it.

“Once I had Kirra, nothing else mattered,” Patridge says of her daughter, who is now sleeping six to seven hours a night. “I didn’t even care. I didn’t care about the dishes piling up or anything. I just let it go.”

Now that Kirra is on the verge of turning 3 months old, the new mom can focus on the happier moments with her daughter, whose father is Patridge’s fiancé Corey Bohan.

“She’s definitely a water baby,” says Patridge. “Corey can’t wait to take her surfing. And I just can’t wait to get our nails done and take her shopping, the little things.”

It certainly sounds like a good balance of hobbies is in the future for Kirra.

“She’ll be a tomboy with Corey and a full-on girly girl with me!” Patridge adds. “She’ll be a cute little tomboy who likes makeup.”
