Not only is Ashley Williams an actress and yoga enthusiast — she’s also a certified doula!

The How I Met Your Mother alum sat down with PEOPLE Now to discuss assisting in childbirth for her friend Shiri Appleby.

“She was kind of a last-minute [situation],” said Williams, 37, who adds she and the UnREAL star, also 37, attended an acting class together. “She was in labor and she called me and said, ‘I need you.’ And I said, ‘I’m at a hotel bar, I will be there in five minutes.’ ”

Williams wasn’t alone at the bar, either. In fact, she had a pretty well-known actor with her.

“I was at a hotel bar with [Zachary Quinto], we were drinking,” she adds. “Luckily, I’d only had one glass of wine, so I was like, ‘I think I can go help Shiri!’ “

She also shares that Appleby — who has two children with fiancé Jon Shook: son Owen Lee, 6 months, and 3-year-old daughter Natalie Bouader — had an all-star team during her birthing experience.

“She’s got an amazing [fiancé], and she went to the hospital,” continues The Jim Gaffigan Show star, who herself is mom to 21-month-old son Gus. “So she had her OB and she had the nurses.”
