With the death of her mom Marcheline Bertrand in 2007, Angelina Jolie says she came to view her own role as a mom-of-six — and partner to actor Brad Pitt — a bit differently.

“There is something about the years passing where you really appreciate life more each day,” she explains to the Chicago Sun-Times.

“The amazing part is you have a history with the people you love. And it becomes important for you to stay healthy and age gracefully.”

“I want to see my grandkids,” Jolie, 35, adds. “I want to see my children grown and spend the years with Brad. I want everything.”

The Salt actress credits her brood with keeping her “on track,” noting, “kids are very grounding that way.”

When their feet are actually touching the ground, that is! Of daughter Zahara Marley, 5½, and twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline, 2, she muses, “toddlers can really run fast.”

“I mean, Z can easily outrun me,” Jolie continues. “But the twins have this deal where they run off in different directions at the same time.”

From the sound of things, an unwillingness to stand still is something Jolie can identify with.

“I know that we’re always pregnant, breaking up or something crazy,” she says of celebrity gossip. “The truth is I’d love to live in Africa at some point. I’d love to spend more time flying planes. And artistically, there will be other things to do.”
