Amal Clooney‘s mom Baria has double the reasons to smile — and they’re named Ella and Alexander!

The brand-new grandmother — and George Clooney‘s mother-in-law — stepped out Wednesday in London and was seen smiling as she headed to her car. Wearing sunglasses and a flowing blue blouse, the Lebanese-British journalist left a London hotel in high spirits the day after the arrival of her new grandchildren.

Baria, who was present for the birth, told French news agency AFP that the family is “over the moon” with the new arrivals.

“It was a beautiful delivery,” she said. “Everything went well. The babies are beautiful and doing well.”

Amal’s mom was also spotted out the day before buying presents for the new little ones. According to an onlooker, Baria visited the E-Side boutique in the Gerrards Cross neighborhood of Buckinghamshire, England, on Tuesday afternoon, the same day the twins arrived.

“She bought two romper suits in organic cotton. They are two sleep suits with a bear and rabbit,” the onlooker told PEOPLE of Baria’s purchases. “One of the romper suits is in gray with an image of a bear, and the other is in mint with a picture of a rabbit.”

Baria isn’t the only proud new grandparent. Nick Clooney and Nina Warren, George’s parents, revealed Wednesday that they’ve met the twins — through Skype!

“They are gorgeous. Nina swears they have George’s nose,” proud grandfather Nick, 83, told Cincinnati WXIX anchor Tricia Macke from the family home in Kentucky. “Not both of them, one of them. The little boy looked like he had [George’s] nose. His little profile.”

Amal’s father, Ramzi Alamuddin, was in Beirut when he told the AFP that the new parents “are in great health.”

“Everything is perfect,” he said. “I’m very happy for them, they will be great parents.”
