While Alison Sweeney says her own style is pretty much comprised of jeans and T-shirts, her 6-year-old daughter Megan Hope‘s style is much less predictable.

“Megan has a more quirky style,” the star and executive producer of Hallmark Channel’s Love on the Air, premiering Sept. 26, tells PEOPLE.

“She’s known to put together Frozen T-shirts with her favorite skirt in a way that’s very unique to Megan. She’s a super free spirit and she has her own style.”

For the most part, Sweeney, 38, lets her daughter dress herself.

“I try to help her more depending on the circumstance,” she explains. “One time, she asked me if she had picked out a good outfit for doing cartwheels. Or if it’s cold out, you have to wear longer clothes or a sweater.”

Sweeney continues, “But if she’s met those rules about health and wellness, then I let her pick out patterns that work for her. For the most part, it’s quirky, but it works!”

Megan’s style is so unique that the TV host has to let her daughter pick out her own clothes when it comes to shopping.

“Megan has really particular tastes, so she’s very specific about what she will and will not wear,” shares Sweeney. “I have learned not to make the mistake of buying things for her and thinking she’ll like it. You can’t predict.”

Sweeney’s son Benjamin Edward, 10, is decidedly more laidback when it comes to his wardrobe.

“I’ll get him a shirt with a guitar on it and he’s psyched,” she says. “Ben’s a little more easygoing. That pretty much sums them up.”
