With Baby Safety Month in full swing, Ali Landry is doing everything in her power to get the word out.

After hearing a tragic story about a little girl who lost her life in a car accident, Landry had an awakening.

“That child was the same age as my daughter. And I just thought to myself, ‘I know nothing really about carseat safety,’ ” Landry, 42, tells PEOPLE.

“Every friend of mine, I think we’re all in the same position: You assume you know. It’s just one of those things that clicked within me, like I have to do something about it. There’s no way after hearing this that I can just be silent.”

In an effort to promote awareness and honor National Seat Check Day, the mom of three will be hosting the 4th Annual Red Carpet Safety Event, a family-friendly charity event sponsored by Diono and benefitting Safe Kids California, on Sept. 19.

“We are so proud of this event,” the actress says. “It’s our fourth year doing it and it really was just born out of passion.”

Landry adds, “Initially, we were only spreading awareness about carseat safety and now, cut to four years later, we’re talking about all areas of safety. Not only carseat safety, but on-the-go safety, activity safety, at-home safety, body-care baby wearing safety — just to get that conversation going between moms.”

The event, which will feature many seminars and demonstrations, is all about education, an element that Landry believes is vital.

“You know, once you know better, you do better,” Landry says. “As parents, your intention is always to keep your children safe, right? Once you hear this information, you’re going to do better.”

Landry, who shares three children with husband Alejandro Gomez MonteverdeEstela Ines, 8, Marcelo Alejandro, 3, and Valentin Francesco, 2 — co-founded the app Favored.By in hopes to make moms’ lives just a little easier.

“It makes discovering and sharing baby products fun, easy and it focuses on your ultimate favorite product because it is very overwhelming out there,” Landry explains.

Though the supermom seems to be a pro at juggling tasks, her three little ones are always keeping her on her toes.

“[Estela] is really like a little budding singer,” Landry shares. “She has a pretty amazing voice and we don’t know where it comes from.”

As for her two little boys, Landry says, “They are two peas in a pod!”
