A.J. Buckley is going to be a dad!

The former CSI: NY star and his fiancée, oncology nurse Abigail Ochse, are expecting their first child — a daughter — early next year, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“Abby is currently five months pregnant and the couple look forward to welcoming their new addition in early 2014,” the rep tells PEOPLE.

On Tuesday morning, the actor hinted to his Twitter followers that he had special news to share. “Good morning. Big announcement today. So excited to share #lifechanging,” he Tweeted.

Buckley, 35, will next star alongside Katherine Heigl and Patrick Wilson in North of Hell, an independent film which he also produced.
