The “All of Me” singer is replacing coach Jennifer Hudson and joining Kelly Clarkson and veteran coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for season 16 of NBC’s hit reality singing competition series — and he’s ready to rumble. In a hilarious promo shared exclusively with PEOPLE, the returning coaches aren’t too concerned about the show’s newest addition despite his many intimidating achievements. “What are you guys worried about?” Levine asks Shelton and Clarkson. “I mean, John’s an Emmy winner, a Grammy, Oscar, Tony — it’s a lot,” says Clarkson. Casually surprising his costars from behind, the singer compliments their performance before showing them how it’s really done. “You guys sound pretty cool, mind if I jump in?” he says. Doing what he does best, Legend one-ups his fellow coaches by sliding on the keyboard and picking up where they left off with his own legendary spin on the iconic song.
