Soulja Boy Arrested for Allegedly Violating Probation, Rapper is Being Held Without Bail
Rapper Soulja Boy has been arrested and remains behind bars.
On Thursday, Soulja, 28, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom where a judge ruled that he had violated his probation related to weapon charges, TMZ reports.
In February, police carried out a raid at the “Crank That” rapper’s home to investigate a claim that Soulja had kidnapped and assaulted his girlfriend, according to the outlet.
While there, police allegedly found ammunition in Soulja’s house.
The judge says Soulja also violated his probation by allegedly trying to falsify evidence that would prove he completed mandatory community service he was sentenced, The Blast reports.
Soulja was initially arrested last month for parole violations stemming from the raid but released shortly after ahead of Thursday’s court date.
Following Thursday’s court hearing, Soulja was arrested and is currently being held without bail. He will remain in custody until his next hearing on April 30, according to The Blast.
Soulja’s probation stems from his 2014 arrest for carrying a loaded gun in public, USA Today reports.
The probation was extended in 2016 when he allegedly violated it after allegedly being found in possession of another firearm, according to USA Today.
A rep for Soulja did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment regarding his recent arrest.
The rapper has also yet to publicly address his detainment.
However, late Thursday he did announce the release of new music on his Instagram Stories.
“I just want to say shoutout to all my fans. God is so good. My album is on the way — dropping on 4/20,” Soulja said in a video.
“This is for all my fans, I love y’all.”
In addition to his many run-ins with the law, Soulja started off 2019 on a pretty rough note.
The outspoken rapper was involved in a car accident in January after heavy rain caused dangerous mudslides and floods in Southern California.
“Was involved in a very bad car accident last night due to a flash flood and mud slide,” he wrote early Sunday in a since-deleted tweet.
Soulja retweeted a photo of the mudslides in Malibu, California, adding, “My car got stuck too almost went into the ocean,” along with a prayer emoji.”
A short time later he elaborated on Instagram, where he shared a screenshot of news coverage. “I’m just thankful to be alive,” he captioned the image. “I don’t care about the car it’s materialistic you can’t take it with you when you’re gone.”
