People Editorial Guidelines Published on February 27, 2019 10:05 AM Share Tweet Pin Email Selena Gomez has been hanging low since completing treatment late last year for an emotional breakdown she suffered while in the hospital. But on Tuesday night, the 26-year-old star gave fans an inkling she might be ready to return to the spotlight as she left a music studio in Los Angeles. Gomez was photographed walking to her car, looking to be in good spirits. The Disney Channel alum dressed comfy for the evening too — wearing jeans, a button-down shirt, an oversized jacket, and white sneakers. She wore her hair back in a ponytail, accessorized her look with simple earrings, and carried a black knapsack. A return to music would be good news for Gomez fans, who have been anxiously awaiting a new LP from the songstress. Her last album, Revival, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in October 2015, spawning hit singles “Good for You,” “Same Old Love,” and “Hands to Myself.” There have been collaborations on other songs since, including Charlie Puth’s “We Don’t Talk Anymore” (2016), Kygo’s “It Ain’t Me” (2017), Marshmello’s “Wolves” (2017) and DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki” (2018). And a few one-off singles of her own in 2017, including “Bad Liar” and “Fetish.” Selena Gomez Steps Out in Orange County After Trip to Mexico for Best Friend’s Bachelorette BACKGRID Selena Gomez Leaves Treatment After Hospitalization and Enjoys Snowy Vacation with Friends Of course, Gomez’s time away from music has been busy — with acting roles in a slew of projects, including Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. She’s also had health complications, including a kidney transplant she underwent in 2017 because of her ongoing battle with lupus. Back in October, Gomez was hospitalized twice for a low white blood cell count, which can be a side effect for kidney transplant patients. During her second visit, Gomez suffered a panic attack and subsequently headed to a treatment center on the East Coast where she underwent dialectical behavior therapy — a therapy method designed to help try to identify, and then change, negative thinking and behavioral patterns. “She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point,” a source explained told PEOPLE at the time. Just before Christmas, the star enjoyed a snowy trip with her pals and was also photographed hiking in L.A. and taking Pilates classes. In early January, she went horseback riding with two friends, as well. Earlier this month, Gomez attended the wedding of pals Courtney Barry and Sam Lopez in Downtown Los Angeles. Prior to the couple’s “I dos,” Gomez celebrated the bride-to-be with a bachelorette trip to Cabo San Lucas. “Selena’s feeling much better and looking forward to getting back to normalcy,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “She’s spending time with friends and family.”
