Rihanna is commemorating an important day in history.

The singer, 32, shared photos Tuesday of her trip to Memphis, Tennessee, last summer to visit the Lorraine Motel, where Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in 1968.

Posting photos of herself in front of the infamous location, Rihanna wrote in the caption, "finally found em'.... got cabin fever last summer and took a road trip to Memphis."

One of the photos shows the "Love on the Brain" singer, wearing sweatpants, a T-shirt and a mask, standing underneath the motel's sign. Another is taken from behind Rihanna as she looks up at another neon sign on the side of the building.

In the third photo, Rihanna points out room 306, in front of which King was shot and killed at age 39. The balcony is adorned with a wreath, and a plaque in honor of King now stands below the room.

The "Diamonds" singer suggested it was an emotional visit and encouraged others to make the pilgrimage to the motel.

"MAN... I can't describe the feeling that came over me, you gotta go to experience it for yourself! #MLK," Rihanna added in the caption.

King was shot on April 4, 1968, while he was standing on the second-story balcony of the Lorraine Motel. The civil rights leader had been in Memphis to support a sanitation workers' strike.

Just one day before, King delivered his famous "I've Been to the Mountaintop" speech in what would become his last sermon.
