Meghan Trainor is all about her boyfriend — and for good reason!
“I really couldn’t talk since December,” she said. “So it was like three months of vocal rest, and then we decided: ‘Let’s get the surgery before Ellen, and then when we recover, it’s gonna be tight, but you’ll be able to sing on Ellen.’ I was like, ‘Okay let’s do it.’ And we did it, and we pulled it off. It was tough.”
Unable to speak for a months, Trainor, 23, said she relied on her cell phone to communicate — but Sabara also stepped up.
“The real trouper was my boyfriend, ’cause he learned sign language for me, so I’d spell out words for him, and I’d get frustrated, like, ‘No, wrong!’ and he would learn and he just stuck with me through it,” says the star, who stars in and recorded the song “I’m a Lady” for Smurfs: The Lost Village (in theaters Friday). “He would stick with me and paint with me, even though his were not as good as mine. He put effort in it. ”
Trainor has sung about love on both her albums — Title and Thank You — but says that her boyfriend is the real deal.
“I did it! I found one!” she told DeGeneres of Sabara, 24 and perhaps best known for his role in the Spy Kids series. “He’s like better than whatever I wished for.”
“I wrote six songs on the road about him in front of his face. One is called ‘Marry Me,'” she told the glossy in her cover story. “I never really felt sexy with guys before. No one expressed how they liked my body out loud in the bedroom until I met Daryl. He is obsessed with it — every inch. And that has improved my confidence more than even ‘[All About That] Bass‘ did. He’s a champion, so we’re in heaven.”
