Kanye West was spotted for the first time since he was hospitalized for exhaustion and sleep deprivation on Nov. 21.

The rapper visited the “Rick Owens: Furniture” exhibition at the MOCA Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood on Thursday, and Italian artist Giovanni Leonardo Bassan shared a photo of West’s outing on Instagram that day.

In the image, West, 39, sports a new blond hairdo and is casually dressed in a grey sweater, black jeans and white sneakers.

The Grammy-nominated hitmaker’s public outing comes 17 days after he entered UCLA Medical Center for a week-long treatment. West was released from UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital after more than a week, spending Thanksgiving Day at the facility.

West, who has continued to recover with the help of wife Kim Kardashian West, is slowly returning to a sense of normalcy.

A source previously told PEOPLE that West attempted to make music from his hospital bed, and now those close to him are certain that the hardworking hitmaker is plotting his next creative move — even though he’s under orders to rest.

“I think Kanye’s going to come out of this stronger than ever, fully intact, creative and is going to contribute so much more awesome s—,” the source shared.
