Justin Bieber's Mom Pattie Mallette 'Looking Forward to the Day' He and Hailey Baldwin Are Expecting

Justin Bieber tricked fans on April Fool's Day when he posted photos of an ultrasound and of Hailey Baldwin with medical professionals

Looks like Justin Bieber‘s pregnancy prank fooled just about everyone — including his mom.

On April Fool’s Day, the 25-year-old singer took his fans on a rollercoaster ride of emotions after he posted two Instagrams implying that his wife, Hailey Baldwin, was pregnant.

The first post was a captionless photo of an ultrasound, while the second was a set of photos that showed Baldwin surrounded by medical professionals touching her stomach area. “If U thought it was April fools,” he captioned the second post.

However, Bieber then revealed the whole thing was a joke when he shared a third and final post, a doctored ultrasound photo that included the head of a puppy. He captioned the image, “Wait omg is that a,,, APRIL FOOLS.”

The singer’s mother Pattie Mallette commented on the third photo, writing “Ya well it better be” in response to her son’s prank.

She then posted a longer message, adding, “Ha ha. Happy #AprilFools. I’m always on guard and ready for you today.”

She continued: “I am SO looking forward to the day y’all bringing me babies that are ‘GRAND’! You’re going to make BEAUTIFUL children and be GREAT parents when the time comes!!”

“Maybe just don’t call me Grandma. Or Nana. Or Nanny. Or… OKAY I DON’T KNOW IF I’M READY!” Mallette, 44, added, alongside laughing and crying emojis.

However, not everyone found Bieber’s prank amusing.

As many social media users were quick to point out, joking about pregnancy can be hurtful to many people who have struggled with conceiving or have lost their children.

“Of course justin bieber will think a pregnancy announcement would be funny on April fools. esp so when 1 in 7 women have had a miscarriage. not to mention those suffering from infertility,” wrote one Twitter user.

“I’ve never been mad at @justinbieber but today I’m disappointed in him for posting a fake pregnancy announcement,” added another. “Honestly, not a funny joke when millions of women are struggling with infertility and other issues of the sort. Sad, @justinbieber.”

The prank baby news came after a source close to the singer told PEOPLE that the “Love Yourself” singer wants to be ready for fatherhood.

“Right now, he’s ready to be a dad,” the source said. “That’s what he wants to be. He knows that he has to get things figured out so that he can be the dad he wants to be. But that’s his focus. Being a dad is his dream right now.”

In addition, Bieber has made “big strides” in becoming mentally healthy.

“If you were to talk to Justin six months ago, and talk to him now, you’d see how much he has changed,” the source said. “He’s growing so much, he’s going from being a boy to being a man. What he wants is to be a man of integrity, a great husband, a fantastic dad, and a spiritual person. He’s making amazing progress.”
