Back when the married couple first met in 2009, Baldwin's dad told Bieber they "enjoyed" his music
Justin Bieber married a “belieber!”
The popular term was coined during the Canadian singer’s early rise to fame to describe his superfans, and on Tuesday, Bieber confirmed on Instagram that his wife, model Hailey Baldwin, was (and obviously still is) a “belieber.”
“People always asked me if I’d marry a belieber, well I did!!!” Bieber captioned a photo of Baldwin on his Instagram story.
There is even video evidence of Baldwin’s fandom from when the pair first met in 2009. In an adorably awkward interaction, Baldwin’s dad, Stephen Baldwin, introduces his daughter to Bieber, telling him that they’ve been “enjoying” his music. Bieber pulls out his signature move — the iconic hair flip — but Baldwin plays it cool, seeming completely disinterested.
From a fan to Mrs. Bieber, a source previously told PEOPLE that Baldwin has been an incredible support system for the pop star as he focuses on a new chapter in his life, making his mental health a priority.
“Hailey is able to support Justin in a way that no one else has been able to,” a Bieber source previously told PEOPLE. “She only comes from a place of love. She doesn’t want anything from him except for him to be able to be the best person and husband. Justin is overwhelmingly grateful for how patient and supportive Hailey is.”
And Bieber isn’t shy when it comes to praising his supportive wife on social media. Prior to confirming her “belieber” status, the Sorry singer shared a stunning photo of Baldwin from a past Maxim photo shoot with a poem he had written for her.
“Sunlight falls into the Abyss Just like i fall into your lips,” he began the poem. “Waves crash onto the shore My love for you grows more and more Sound of the crickets a true meditation I think about you, Gods greatest creation.”
“As i fall into this blissful state I ponder on how you’re my one true SOULMATE,” he continued. “Its getting dark [too] dark to see A chilling breeze embraces me The smell of camomile fresh from the garden My life is a movie that both of us star in. Speaking of stars I’m starting to see some They light up the sky, reminds me of my freedom How big and how vast our world is around us So grateful for god we were lost but he found us So i write the poem with him always in mind Things all around us Just get better with time.”
He concluded the poem with some sweet encouragement for Baldwin in her upcoming shoot, writing: “I fall more in love with you every day! You have walked hand and hand with me as I continue to get my emotions, mind, body and soul in tact! You have given me so much strength, support, encouragement and joy. I just wanted to publicly honor you, and remind you that the best is yet to come! Have a great shoot today my love!”
