Prior to being silenced by the return of a throat granuloma, John Mayer recorded an acoustic performance of “Queen of California” – and has a first look.

The studio version of the tune is the second single off of Born and Raised, the musician’s chart-topping fifth album.

“Being able to have a hopeful vibe about something again it’s actually about getting over stuff,” Mayer, 34, recently told NPR of the song. “Which is why I think it’s the first track on the record. It’s a very relieving breath of fresh air.”

A video for “Queen of California” was shot recently in Los Angeles and will premiere in July.
