The duo recently announced they were collaborating on a new Spanish-language album, due out in 2017, for which Anthony will produce. Lopez opened up to People en Español for their 20th anniversary issue about working with her ex-husband.
“It’s very exciting. We worked on my last Spanish album together [Como Ama una Mujer],” she says. “I can’t imagine doing it without him because the only kind of foray I’ve had into this world has always been with him. It’s going to be exciting.”
Lopez, 47, reveals that getting back to music is a relief after years of balancing acting, a Las Vegas residency and motherhood to the former couple’s 8-year-old twins Emma and Max.
And working with her ex isn’t as awkward as one may think. The pair have been co-parenting their children and remained pals.
“I don’t even want to say how many years we’ve been friends,” she says of Anthony, 48.
Anthony and Lopez are continuously supportive of each other. The singer and his wife Shannon De Lima even attended the pop star’s Las Vegas show this year.
Lopez gave him a sweet shout-out during the performance, saying “You’re an international legend and icon, but you’re also my baby daddy.”
In addition to the album, Lopez is filming the second season of her hit series, Shades of Blue.
