Katy Perry Jokes Zedd Is a 'Bit of a Drill Sergeant' at the iHeartRadio Music Awards
Wearing an outfit reminiscent of her A.I. character from the song’s music video, the popstar and producer Zedd hit the red carpet ahead of the iHeartRadio Music Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The two recently teamed up on the new single, and presented an award at the sixth annual show. Speaking to Elvis Duran ahead of the broadcast, Perry called Zedd “a fantastic producer” — but had a little fun at his expense as well.
“I’ve been around people who are very diligent — he’s one of the strictest producers. He does not let me rest on all of my No. 1s!” she joked. “He is a bit of a drill sergeant.”
“With good intentions!” Zedd, 29, interjected.
The pair join an already star-studded lineup at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, which will features performances by the Backstreet Boys, Ella Mai, Marshmello, Travis Barker, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Garth Brooks, John Legend and Kacey Musgraves. T-Pain will host, and presenters include Maren Morris, Shay Mitchell, Zedd and Pharrell Williams. And Taylor Swift will receive the iHeartRadio Tour of the Year award for her smash Reputation Stadium Tour.
Unfortunately, Perry, 34, didn’t show off her engagement ring at the event.
On Valentine’s Day, Orlando Bloom, 42, proposed to Perry with a flower-shaped engagement ring; the unique design appears to be comprised of a ruby stone, surrounded by a halo of diamonds. The pair began dating in 2016 and split after a year together. But the couple remained friendly and had restarted their romance by early 2018.
The 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards are airing live on March 14 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
