Geri Halliwell Horner Finds Mel B Sex Claims 'Hurtful' Says Rep: 'It's Been Very Disappointing'

A rep for Geri Halliwell says she did not have sex with her Spice Girls bandmate, despite recent reports

Geri Halliwell Horner denied allegations that she had sex with Spice Girls bandmate Melanie “Mel B” Brown in the mid-’90s.

A rep for Halliwell Horner, who married motorsport racer Christian Horner in 2015, tells PEOPLE that the claim “is simply not true and has been very hurtful to her family.”

The statement comes after a clip released last Monday by Good Morning Britain shows Brown confirming the longtime rumor that she and Halliwell Horner slept together in a preview for Piers Morgan’s upcoming Life Stories series.

In the clip, Morgan directly confronts Brown about her relationship with Halliwell Horner. Brown skates around the question a bit, but ultimately nods her head yes, adding “[Geri’s] going to hate me for this because she’s so posh in her country house with her husband.”

Brown went on to downplay the situation on Tuesday in an interview on British radio show 2Day FM Breakfast with Grant, Ed & Ash, saying that it “wasn’t a big deal” and “just a one night thing.”

“I just admitted we had a little bit of a thing back in the day at one time. And that’s it,” Brown said.

Still, Halliwell Horner’s rep says that, although she loves the Spice Girls, she finds this news “very disappointing.” According to the statement, she’s ready to move forward and focus on the upcoming tour with her former bandmates.

“Geri can’t wait to see the girls and all the fans on the tour, have an amazing time with everyone, and make some new memories,” her rep said in the statement.

After the GMB clip was released, a source familiar with the situation denied Brown’s claim, telling PEOPLE, “nothing actually happened.”

“This was a classic case of Mel B being Mel B, she got carried away and Piers was clearly egging her on,” the source added.
