Remember when Sean “Diddy” Combs gave the world major early-2000’s nostalgia by leaving a flirty comment under ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez‘s Instagram post? Apparently, the rapper-turned-entrepreneur felt guilty about it.

In an interview for Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club Wednesday, Lopez (who just dropped a steamy new music video for “Medicine” featuring French Montana), told host DJ Envy that Combs reached out to her current fiancé, MLB star Alex Rodriguez with a personal apology.

“He wrote Alex after [commenting],” the Hustlers star, 49, said. “He was like, ‘I didn’t mean anything by it. I have nothing but respect for you guys. I’m so happy for you guys.’ We were together so many years ago. It’s just like … we were kids, you know?”

The Instagram photo, which Lopez posted back in January of this year on day nine of her #10DayChallenge, showed-off the “Dinero” singer’s famous figure. Combs, 49, wrote a complimentary, “OMG” under the post, but he wasn’t the only one in awe of Lopez’s perfectly toned arms and abs.

Fans left plenty of flame emojis and heart eye emojis in the comment section. Still, many questioned whether Combs’ admiration was appropriate considering Lopez’s relationship status at the time. Rodriguez, 43, was quick to leave a comment of his own that simply said, “Lucky me” with a few emojis.

As of now, there are no hard feelings between the two men. But Lopez says she wasn’t surprised that her fiancé chimed in.

“He doesn’t play. He’s a crazy Dominican,” she said. “Do not disrespect that man.”

Combs and Lopez started dating in 1999 while she was working on her debut album On the 6, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The A-list couple ended their relationship two years later, but not before serving up an iconic red carpet moment at the 2000 Grammy Awards — who could forget that green Versace number?

In 2017, Combs told Entertainment Tonight that Lopez was “without a doubt” one of his great loves — though Lopez had previously revealed that their split was ultimately caused by his infidelity.
