Entertainment Music Incredible (and Overlooked) Daft Punk & Beastie Boys Mashup Album Resurfaces Daft Punk instrumentals and Beastie Boys vocals collide in this inspired mashup from Toronto producer Coins. By Alex Heigl Published on November 18, 2016 11:48 AM Share Tweet Pin Email Everyone loves a good mashup. Whether it’s Danger Mouse’s landmark Grey Album or Carly Rae Jepsen versus Nine Inch Nails, it’s a unique art form that re-contextualizes both included works — and gives us some new bangers. All of which is to say, this two-year old Daft Punk and Beastie Boys mashup is getting passed around this week thanks to a Reddit post, and we couldn’t be happier to have it in the world. Toronto producer Coins created the album Daft Science by intricately layering the finest of Beastie verses over Daft Punk’s indelible, futuristic beats. Like the best mashups, it’s uncanny how well it works. Be sure to check out the other releases on Coin’s Bandcamp — most are available for the incredible price of free. And if you’re interested in another mashup, why not check out Steely Danzig?
