Britney Spears is working on her mind, body and spirit.
On Wednesday, the pop star, 37, revealed that she has lost 5 lbs. amid her ongoing treatment. Spears shared a fitness video on Instagram in which she lifts weights, does crunches on a workout ball and dances to Cardi B‘s hit “I Like It.”
“Who knew stress would be a great 5 pound weight loss. Yay for me,” Spears captioned the clip, in which she wears black leggings, a yellow sports bra and red tennis shoes.
On April 3, an insider confirmed to PEOPLE that the singer checked into a facility for “all-encompassing wellness treatment.”
The decision came as she deals with the stress of her father Jamie’s recent life-threatening colon rupture, as well as adjustments to medications long prescribed to aid her mental health. The medicine Spears was previously taking had lost some efficacy over time, PEOPLE has learned: As doctors weaned her off the old medicine cocktail and created a new, tweaked regimen, the adjustment period was challenging.
“She recognized she needed to focus on her own health and sought treatment,” a source close to the situation told PEOPLE Tuesday. “No one forced her to go.”
Over the past month, some have questioned the circumstances surrounding the pop star’s decision to seek treatment. On Monday night, a crowd of fans, believing that Spears is being held against her will, gathered in protest outside West Hollywood City Hall, where they demanded her release.
Then Tuesday, Spears spoke out for the first time since she entered treatment, addressing her condition amid the controversy.
In a video posted to her Instagram account, Spears says: “Hi guys, just checking in with all of you who are concerned about me. All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal. Don’t worry. I’ll be back very soon.”
Spears provided more context in the Instagram caption.
“Things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!! There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said. I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear,” the caption reads. “My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment.”
The post continues: “You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful.”
