PEOPLE can exclusively reveal Kelly Clarkson, Lauren Daigle, Khalid, Panic! At The Disco and Sam Smith and Normani are set to perform at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards is gearing up to be a night full of star-studded performances.
Kelly Clarkson, Lauren Daigle, Khalid, Panic! at the Disco, Sam Smith and Normani are among the slate of performers set to take the stage at the annual awards show this year, PEOPLE can exclusively reveal.
Five-time BBMAs nominee Clarkson will be taking on double duty this year by performing her new single while also hosting the award show for her second year in a row. Last year, she performed her track “Whole Lotta Woman.”
“I had so much fun hosting the Billboard Music Awards last year that I’m back for more,” the American Idol alum previously said in a statement. “We’re turning it up a notch this year and I can’t wait to celebrate all of my fellow amazing artists for another unforgettable night of live music.”
Panic! At The Disco, who are up for four awards this year, will grace the BBMAs stage for the very first time as will Daigle, who earned three nods of her own this year.
Following last year’s performance of their hit “Love Lies,” Khalid and Normani will return for separate performances. Khalid, who is nominated for six awards this year, will perform solo while Normani, who is nominated for two awards, will join Smith for his first-ever BBMAs performance.
Among the nominations this year — which were announced last week — Cardi B leads the pack with 21 nods (including top artist) and is followed by Drake and Post Malone with 17 nominations each. Other nominees with multiple nods include Ariana Grande, Travis Scott and late rapper XXXTentacion.
Taylor Swift, who holds the most wins by an artist of all time, could beat her own record of 23 if she wins either award she is nominated for in the top female artist or top touring artist categories.
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards will air on NBC live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
