A fit and healthy-looking Zac Efron says he relies on loved ones to help him through tough times, which includes a recently completed rehab stint after his partying lifestyle got out of hand.

“My family’s my rock,” Efron said at a Culver City, Calif., press event Tuesday to promote his latest film, That Awkward Moment. “I know they’re not going anywhere. More and more I’ve come to rely on my little brother to keep me grounded. He’s 21 now.”

Efron added of his support system: “I know my family’s always going to be there. And there’s also – as my life changes, sometimes they can’t really be there for you … and I rely on my friends.”

Efron, who turns 26 on Friday, was upbeat, smiling and at ease as he talked about the movie alongside costars Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan.

Yes, he gets naked onscreen. And yes, it was awkward.

“There was like a sock thing. It fell off. You just cup your hands,” Efron explained of handling the on-screen nudity. Fans hoping for a hot sneak peek are in luck with a new – and NSFW! – trailer, which shows off his backside and famously buff body.

Opening in January, the romantic (and sometimes raunchy) comedy traces the male bonding and challenging love lives of three single guys in New York City as they come to terms with relationships.

For his own love life, the single Efron, who previously dated Lily Collins, said he likes a strong and happy woman. “I think someone that’s creative and smart, self-confident,” he said. “A nice smile, that’s a good thing to have.”
