Woody Harrelson Says New Han Solo Alden Ehrenreich Reads Books Instead of Partying

Woody Harrelson is spilling about the new Han Solo -- and he might be the total opposite of what fans expect

Woody Harrelson is spilling about the new Han Solo.

The actor, who is currently filming the standalone Star Wars movie, says that Alden Ehrenreich isn’t a hard partier. Sitting down with PEOPLE Now to promote his new movie Wilson, Harrelson says his Han Solo costar actually has it a lot more put together than he does.

“I gotta say, Alden’s really got his head on his shoulders — that is one cool guy,” Harrelson, 55, says. “He doesn’t do frivolous stuff and go out and party at night. He’s like reading books instead. He’s just constantly nurturing his mind.”

And Harrelson isn’t worried about fame getting to his young costar’s head. “It will be not too long before he is intensely famous,” he says. “So how to deal with that? I don’t know. It’s gonna be a wild trip for him. He’s a cool guy and I don’t think that he’s gonna lose his mind with that. He’s not the type of guy to do that.”

In a recent interview, Harrelson revealed that he’s partying a little less — and has stopped smoking pot. The actor and longtime marijuana advocate admitted that he hasn’t gotten stoned in almost a year and that his hard-partying reputation is now a misconception.

“I am a party animal,” said Harrelson. “But on the other hand, I’m now extremely moderate, and … I actually stopped smoking pot almost a year ago.”

The untitled Han Solo Star Wars story is currently slated for release on May 25, 2018 — just five months after the release of The Last Jedi Episode VIII on Dec. 15, 2017. Wilson is out March 24.
