Watch Leonardo DiCaprio Get His Revenge on Tom Hardy in Intense New Trailer for The Revenant
Leonardo DiCaprio's character crawls out of a shallow grave following a bear attack to hunt down those who left him for dead
Leonardo DiCaprio is out to get his revenge on Tom Hardy.
The Revenant released its first full-length trailer Tuesday – and it shows that neither a bear attack nor being left for dead in a shallow grave are enough to slow down DiCaprio’s titular character.
While there was hardly any dialogue spoken in the teaser trailer – with the exception of DiCaprio’s eerie “I ain’t afraid to die anymore, I’ve done it already” – the extended clip gives us a closer look at the conflicted relationship between DiCaprio and Hardy’s characters. The pair start off as friends, but things quickly turn sour following DiCaprio’s near-death experience following a bear attack.
The Revenant, which is based on true events, finds DiCaprio taking on the role of Hugh Glass, the explorer who made a nearly 200-mile trek to civilization for vengeance after his fellow travelers left the frontiersman for dead and killed his only son.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s Changing Looks
Directed and co-written by Alejandro Gonzélez Iñérritu, who was at the helm of the Oscar-winning Birdman, the film’s cast also includes Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter.
The Revenant hits theaters on Christmas 2015 in a limited release before premiering widely on Jan. 8, 2016.
