The 2016 film-festival season has claimed its first red-carpet casualty.

Chinese actress Liang Jingke took a spill on the carpet at the Venice Film Festival Thursday, losing her footing as she stepped on her gorgeous, voluminous green gown while attending the glitzy premiere of The Light Between Oceans.

Liang, who wore towering platform heels, was seen teetering to the side as her shoe got caught on the gown’s hem and train, before losing her balance altogether. As she attempted to steady herself, two men came to her rescue, but Liang ended up collapsing onto her knees.

The actress still kept her spirits up: After recovering, she laughed it off and smiled as she asked for a drink from one of her companions and later posed for photographers.

‘ stars, Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander, were also on hand at the premiere of the film, which tells the story of a lighthouse keeper and his wife in World War I-era Australia who raise a baby girl as their own after she washes ashore in a boat. The real-life couple met while shooting the period melodrama in 2014.

The film has been earning glowing reviews as it positions itself as a contender in the run-up to this year’s big awards season.
