It’s been 30 years since Tom Cruise starred as Lieutenant Maverick in Top Gun – and now to celebrate the film’s upcoming anniversary, fans can get a copy of the 1986 action movie plus new interviews with Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

And in a sneak peek at one of the interviews, shared exclusively with PEOPLE, Cruise revealed he enjoyed working with costar Val Kilmer, who played Iceman.

“Val and I, I really enjoyed the scenes I did with him also,” said Cruise in the above video clip, which also featured scenes from the movie.

“I remember he was shooting a film in London. Just had great power and presence, Kilmer,” recalled the star, 53, adding that the role of Iceman was already written and that he “couldn’t think about anyone, but Kilmer in that role.”

“It was like, I hope he does it,” said Cruise. “And they cast Rick Rossovich great with him also. Tom Skerritt. Every element just came in beautifully.”
