Marvel Studios debuted the first official trailer for Avengers: Infinity War on Wednesday

Infinity is finally here.

Marvel Studios debuted the first official trailer for Avengers: Infinity War on Wednesday, finally bringing together their cast of heroes from the far reaches of the comic book universe.

The trailer reintroduces dozens of Marvel characters, some of whom we’ve watched saved the world since way back in 2008, as they team up against the galactic warlord Thanos, played by a motion-captured Josh Brolin. From Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man to Chris Evan’s Captain America to Chris Pratt’s Starlord, the entire gang is ready to defend earth against their toughest villain yet.

“There was an idea, to bring together a group of remarkable people. To see if we could become something more. SO when they needed us, we could fight the battles that they never could,” the various characters say in the opening of the trailer.

From there we see a series images: Loki offering the Tesseract up as a gift presumably to Thanos, Peter Parker’s Spidey senses tingle while he reads on a school bus. Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange are introduced in defensive poses.

The trailer also gives a first look at Thanos in action. After materializing out of portal, Brolin’s voice growls, “Fun really isn’t something one considers when balancing the universe. But this … does put a smile on my face.”

Avengers: Infinity War debuts May 4 and is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who helmed the Captain America films The Winter Soldier and Civil War.
