Original character, David Hasselhoff, will return for the film version of the iconic television show
David Hasselhoff is back on the beach.
“‘I WAS BORN READY!’ Pleasure to officially welcome the original #BAYWATCH gangsta himself David Hasselhoff to our movie!,” Johnson, 43, captioned the video. “#BAYWATCH is the most successful TV show of all time and from the day we announced we were turning it into a movie, ‘The Hoff’ has been our greatest supporter. Especially once he knew our RATED R movie was going to be a combination of AVENGERS and ANCHORMAN.”
In the video Hasselhoff, 63, is on video chat with Johnson, who is on a beach, as he asked if the world is ready for the both of them together, adding “There ain’t no bay without the Hoff.'”
His caption continues, “Hoff’s a cool dude who’s down to have fun and here’s the best part. He’s been training his ass off and gotten in the best shape he’s been in in years! (cue slo-mo running and glistening chest hair.. wait, why the f— am I even thinking about Hoff’s chest hair!?) World get ready.. #Rockand Hoff #ThereAintNoBAy #WithoutTheHoff.”
While there was no information on what capacity Hasselhoff would be involved in the film, he was a series regular in the original television show that ran from 1989 to 2001, with the actor appearing in every season.
Star Zac Efron also revealed his character on Wednesday: a “brash, young recruit” named Matt Brody.
“He doesn’t necessarily see eye to eye with Mitch on many things,” Efron told Entertainment Tonight during a set visit in Miami.
The film, also starring and Quantico‘s Priyanka Chopra, hits theaters in May 2017.
