Oh, my!

How else to react to the provocative posters for Nymphomaniac – the upcoming film from Danish director Lars von Trier – that capture each of the movie’s stars in a seemingly heightened state of arousal.

Set for a world premiere in Denmark on Christmas Day, the controversial NC-17 film follows the erotic life of a woman, Joe (played by Charlotte Gainsbourg) from birth to the age of 50, and stars Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman, Christian Slater and Jamie Bell, among others.

The posters feature the 14 movie characters up close, undressed in the midst of what looks like a very intimate moment:

• Shia, shirtless and smoking
• Uma, glassy-eyed and hair flying
• Christian, ripped and deep in thought
• Jamie Bell, flexed with eyes shut

“[The movie] is what you think it is,” LaBeouf told MTV News. “There’s a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we’re doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we’ll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening.”

Louise Vesth, a producer on the film told the Hollywood Reporter that the director used body doubles for the actors along with digital technology to create the truly hardcore elements of the movie.

“So above the waist it will be the star and below the waist it will be the doubles,” said Vesth.
