Why Seattle Uber Users Were Riding Around Town Mad Max-Style
Uber helped promote a new Mad Max video game with customized cars in the style of Fury Road
Seattle residents using the Uber app to get around town this past weekend had a new option when summoning a ride: “Mad Max.”
Yes, between Friday morning and Monday evening, users could opt to be picked up by one of several vehicles retrofitted in the post-apocalyptic fashion that Mad Max: Fury Road taught us to love. Best of all, the rides were free. Per Uber’s website, “Your dollars are worthless in the Wasteland. Payment shall not be required.”
And while it wasn’t quite Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy dressed in their Fury Road regalia, these drivers were decked out like characters from the movie series. Check out the photos from Uber Seattle’s Twitter.

Needless to say, demand for these specialty vehicles was high. But can you imagine reactions of someone who requested the Mad Max-mobile accidentally and was surprised and confused when one of these arrived to pick them up?
The promotion was all part of an extensive campaign promoting a new video game version of Mad Max for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The game goes on sale Tuesday.
