As a huge Will Smith fan, Scott Eastwood was not going to miss an opportunity to get jiggy with one of his favorite rappers while filming Suicide Squad together.

“I was really excited to meet Will Smith, I was a huge Will Smith fan,” the actor, 30, said on PEOPLE NOW.

“He’s one of the most positive guys I’ve ever met, he is definitely the heart and soul of the film,” he added. “At 4 a.m. when we were tired and we were shooting all night, he’d break into song or crack some joke and make everyone laugh. He was really great about that.”

The group sing-alongs even extended off of the set, where Eastwood said the cast would sometimes be serenaded by Smith’s greatest hits.

“You know what’s really interesting? When you go to a place to lunch or a bar or something with him, they’ll turn his music on almost immediately,” Eastwood explained. “I can imagine probably after a little while that can get pretty annoying.

“There were a couple times we all went out and they did that, they sort of turn his music on.”

Despite the steady attention, Eastwood said Smith is always kind and polite: “He’s the nicest most gracious guy.”

Suicide Squad hits theaters Friday.
