Expect to see a whole lotta Ryan Reynolds in his latest film, Deadpool.

In one scene, the actor, who plays the title character, goes full monty for a nude fighting scene that shows off more than just his martial arts abilities.

“The only way to do that is just do it,” Reynolds, 39, told PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly Editorial Director Jess Cagle on SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio Deadpool special. “We had a little talk with the crew at the beginning of the day and just said, ‘You’re going to see parts of the dance floor here that you weren’t ready for. I’m sorry in advance, but we’re all in this together.'”

Although this wouldn’t be the actor’s first nude scene (remember that naked hug with Sandra Bullock in The Proposal?) it was Reynolds’ first time getting prosthetic makeup down there.

The father of one endured “eight hours of prosthetic makeup” to get into character as Deadpool, who has scars all over his body after becoming a human test subject in a superhuman enhancement project.

“We had Bill Corso, who’s this incredible Oscar-winning makeup artist,” Reynolds said about the man he spent long hours getting ready with, also adding, “Eight hours of prosthetic makeup in places that no man needs to be there with a paintbrush.”

Corso is the mastermind behind Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Age of Adaline, which Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively also starred in.

“He’s a genius, and he made my penis look perfect,” the Deadpool star added.

SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio Deadpool special will air this Friday at 2 p.m. ET on SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio.
