Ryan Gosling doesn’t have a problem mixing his work and personal life.

The actor, 34, opened up about what it was like working with girlfriend Eva Mendes in a professional setting while teaming up for his 2014 mystery film Lost River, which he wrote and directed.

Gosling told Sunday Style in a new interview that “there’s more” respect in a relationship when the professional stakes are higher.

“Because they know what is at stake for you personally, and all the work that’s gone into getting there,” Gosling said.

He went on to explain that the actress, 41, was supportive and hands-on when it came to putting together the low-budget film. Mendes joined Gosling and the costume designer on a trip to the Salvation Army to stuff garbage bags of clothes to put together looks for the movie, the news outlet reported.

“And that happened a lot in the film, where she indirectly picked things that became very important to different people involved – never wanting credit,” he continued.

“She hates credit and she’ll even be mad that I’m giving her that credit,” Gosling said. “But she was very helpful in so many ways.”
