Song to Song kicks off the SXSW film festival on Friday and will open in theaters March 17
On the eve of the South by Southwest film festival opening with Terrence Malick’s Song to Song, EW has an exclusive clip of Ryan Gosling and Rooney Mara in the rock ‘n’ roll drama.
Set amid the lively Austin, Texas, music scene, the film follows two couples whose lives become entangled as they chase success and grapple with love and betrayal. Gosling and Mara play struggling songwriters Faye and BV, while Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman portray a music mogul and the waitress he ensnares.
In the scene above, a confident BV does his best to charm Faye, who is wary but intrigued. “Just tell me a complete lie,” BV says. “You can say anything you want to me. That’s the fun about me.”
