Director Rob Zombie announced the actor's death via Facebook on Sunday

Tom Towles, a character actor who appeared in multiple Rob Zombie horror films, has died. He was 65.

Zombie announced the actor’s death Sunday via Facebook: “I just got word that our buddy Tom Towles has died,” the director wrote.

“He was such a great guy and I am so grateful that we got to work together several times. He will be really missed,” he continued.

No additional details of the actor’s death were immediately available.

The musician-filmmaker also followed the post with a YouTube clip of House of 1000 Corpses, which captures a scene of Towles playing Lt. George Wydell in the 2003 slasher movie.

The Chicago native also teamed up with Zombie for several other horror hits, including The Devil’s Rejects (2005), Grindhouse (’07) and the 2007 remake of the classic Michael Myers thriller Halloween.

Towles also appeared in guest spots on television series such as Seinfeld, ER, Pacific Blue and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
