Bridget Jones is ready for baby!
Renée Zellweger was spotted in character as she reprises the role of the beloved unlucky-in-love heroine while filming the third installment of the series, Bridget Jones’s Baby.
Zellweger, 46, dove back into character wearing Jones’ typically frumpy but rather eccentric attire. She sported a long, fuzzy blue jacket with a black striped shirt underneath and baggy jeans.
New to her character’s look: a prominent baby bump. Zellweger, who had to gain nearly 30 lbs. for the previous film, looks like she’s ready to pop thanks to a prosthetic bump.
Jones’ faithful friend Shazza (Sally Phillips) was also seen wearing a thick coat and tucking her head under an umbrella during another day of filming as the gal pals sat on a bench. Series newbie Patrick Dempsey joined them, along with two children.
Dempsey’s role in the film has not yet been revealed, but from the looks of it, Jones might be tagging along on a family playdate with Shazza’s husband and kids.
Universal announced that the crew began filming last week with a tweet including the first image of the actress in character.
“Bridget Jones’s Baby has started filming,” the studio captioned the pic.
The announcement came right on schedule, as Universal confirmed to PEOPLE last month that production would begin in early October.
While the plot has remained a closely guarded secret, there are a few things we are sure of. For one, Jones is definitely pregnant. We also know that along with series newbie Patrick Dempsey, Colin Firth is back on board to reprise his role as Darcy.
But still, the biggest question remains: Who is the father of Jones’ baby?
Bridget Jones’s Baby is set to hit theaters Sept. 16, 2016.
