Reese Witherspoon said she has a new appreciation for Taylor Swift

Singing Taylor Swift songs are no easy task — just ask Reese Witherspoon.

During a Friday appearance on the Today show, the 40-year-old actress gushed about belting one of Swift’s hits in her new animated movie Sing.

“Country music is much easier for me. This was hard. Singing Taylor’s song ‘Shake It Off’ was really hard,” Witherspoon said.

“I happened to run into her while I was making the movie and I was like, ‘I have a new appreciation for how hard you work.’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, I work really hard.’ ”

She stars alongside powerhouse singers like Jennifer Hudson and Tori Kelly in the movie. And Matthew McConaughey even shows off his vocal chops in the film, performing Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe.”

The musical comedy is nominated for a Golden Globe, landing McConaughey a total of two films in the same category — Kubo and the Two Strings is also nominated.

However, McConaughey said although the films are be in the same category, he doesn’t favor one over the other — “I’m just rooting.”

“[These are] the first two animated films I’ve been a part of,” McConaughey said. “And I was a part of two really good ones.”

Sing hits theaters on Dec. 21.
