Ralph Macchio Hits the Red Carpet with Actress Daughter Julia Macchio

The actor accompanied his daughter to a special screening of her first movie, Girl Most Likely

After more than thirty years appearing on the big and small screens, Ralph Macchio is used to the red carpet – endless interviews, furious camera flashes and excited screaming.

And Monday night, he showed his daughter Julia the ropes at a screening of Girl Most Likely hosted by the Cinema Society and Brooks Brothers.

Julia, 21, has a small part in the film as a New Jersey club-goer, so she and her father joined the movie’s stars Kristen Wiig, Matt Dillon, Darren Criss and others on the red carpet.

Ralph introduced his daughter proudly, telling PEOPLE, “She has a little part in the movie she got all by herself – not through me!”

Julia explained she made sure the production knew nothing of her famous dad.

“I didn’t want any help from him,” she said. “It was so much fun and a great first experience. Kristen [Wiig] is so nice, and everyone was so nice. I had one scene, but it was a great experience.”

Asked if she’d ever consider doing karate in a movie – as The Karate Kid was her father’s breakout role – Julia laughed and said, “Oh my gosh, no. Hopefully other things, though. But not karate.”

Added her father almost wearily, “It’s been done.”
