Entertainment Movies Pierce Brosnan Reminisces on Working with Robin Williams on 'Mrs. Doubtfire' Days Before Anniversary of His Death Brosnan shared an anecdote about the iconic pool scene By Alexia Fernández Published on August 3, 2017 08:38 PM Share Tweet Pin Email It only took two takes for Robin Williams to film the iconic pool scene in Mrs. Doubtfire. His costar in the film, Pierce Brosnan, who portrayed the love interest of Williams character’s ex-wife, posted a photo of the iconic scene on Instagram Thursday, about a week before the anniversary of the legendary comedian’s death. “… I remember this day like it was yesterday …it was a San Francisco morning on the set of ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ …a drive by fruiting… I thought we would be there all morning trying to get the shot, Robin nailed it on the second take,” Brosnan, 64, wrote in the caption. “I am so proud to have been part of that movie and to have known the great Robin Williams,” he added. The 1993 film also starred Sally Field, and was directed by Chris Columbus, who went on to direct the first two Harry Potter films. Williams passed away at the age of 63 on August 11, 2014. His wife, Susan Schneider Williams, opened up in a PEOPLE and ABC interview in March about the “quiet, intellectual” man she knew and loved — a far cry from the explosive personality often seen on screen. “Robin was a quiet, intellectual man, sometimes playful. But primarily what moved him was the fact that he was an observational genius,” she said. “And if you can imagine the energy that he would bring to the stage — no one can do that full-time. And I think the brilliance behind that impact of energy he would bring was because in his time off, he was someone who was contemplative and an observational genius.”
