Pee-wee Herman’s next big adventure is officially underway.

Actor Paul Reubens, 62, was spotted filming Pee-wee’s Big Holiday in Palmdale, California, on Tuesday, dressed in the character’s distinctive red bow tie and too-small suit. And, though more than two decades have passed since Pee-wee’s Playhouse went off the air, Reubens looks just as gangly as ever.

Reubens first confirmed rumors of a new film in the Pee-wee canon last October while visiting The Tonight Show.

“There is going to be one,” Reubens told host Jimmy Fallon. “I was hoping I could make this huge announcement tonight, but it’s a week away, I think, from being announced.”

The movie, which is produced by Judd Apatow, will premiere on Netflix and is described as “an epic story of friendship and destiny.”

“Judd and I dreamt up this movie four years ago,” Reubens said in February. “The world was much different back then – Netflix was waiting by the mailbox for red envelopes to arrive. I’ve changed all that. The future is here. Get used to it. Bowtie is the new black.”

So what’s the new flick about? Reubens told Entertainment Weekly that it’s a road-trip movie in the vein of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.

“But it’s not about a bicycle,” he clarified. “I never really thought of Big Adventure as a family movie, but I didn’t try to make an adult movie or a kid movie. We wanted to make something that appealed to a wide age range, and I think that’s the case with this movie also.”
