McDreamy Has Arrived! Patrick Dempsey Snaps a Photo in London as Bridget Jones Sequel Starts Production
Patrick Dempsey joins Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth in the upcoming Bridget Jones's Baby
McDreamy has arrived!
Patrick Dempsey has officially landed in the U.K. and is ready to start production on the upcoming film Bridget Jones’s Baby.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Dempsey, who recently departed ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, had signed on to appear in the third installment of the Bridget Jones franchise – and now he’s taken to Instagram to share just how much he’s loving it.
Standing on a cobblestone path between large hedges, Dempsey, 49, looks casually clad in jeans and a black coat with red sneakers. And it seems he’s already adjusting to London’s rather wet weather, as he holds a large umbrella in the snapshot.
Giving a shout-out to his costars Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth, he captions the photo: “Nice to be working in England. Renee and Colin are an absolute joy to work with! A good couple of days rehearsing at Pinewood Studios. I really like it here!”
Both Zellweger and Firth will reprise their original roles as on/off couple Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy.
Zellweger arrived in London a few weeks ago and has since been spotted around town as she prepares to start filming. She even paid a secret visit to ITV Studios, where sources confirm to PEOPLE she caught the taping of an early-morning news show similar that of Jones’ fictional Sit-Up Britain.

While little is known about the plot of the new film, one this is for sure: Bridget Jones is taking on motherhood. Bridget Jones’s Baby will start filming in the U.K. on Oct. 2, reps for Universal Pictures confirm to PEOPLE.
A source tells PEOPLE that the Oscar winner is “super excited” to be jumping back into the role.
