Kelly Rutherford Attends Pan Premiere Before Custody Hearing in Monaco
Kelly Rutherford will fly to Monaco soon for an Oct. 26 custody hearing
Kelly Rutherford was all smiles at the premiere of kid’s movie Pan on Sunday – even as her own children live an ocean away amid her contentious custody battle.
The Gossip Girl actress seemed to attend the screening at New York’s Ziegfeld theater with a friend and her kids. At the afterparty held at Chelsea Piers Lighthouse, Rutherford was spotted FaceTiming with a little girl who appeared to be daughter Helena, sweetly showing her necklaces being made at a crafting station.
“My goal is their well-being and that they’re safe, happy, healthy kids. It’s scary,” she told PEOPLE in August of Helena, 6, and son Hermes, 8. “My kids have been through a lot. I’ve done everything I possibly can to let them think that everything is normal.”
Rutherford will fly to Monaco soon for an Oct. 26 court date. She has been fighting to bring Hermes and Helena back to the United States, where they were born, since 2012, when a judge sent them to live with their father, German businessman Daniel Giersch, in Monaco and France temporarily.
Her family seemed to be on her mind Sunday: She posted an Instagram of an old photo shoot with Hermes and an inspirational quote: “I don’t understand why women say ‘I’m just a mom.’ Remind me again which job on the planet is more important “
