“I wasn’t looking for this, I was just having fun being a mom,” she revealed.

In Our Brand Is Crisis, Bullock plays Jane “Calamity” Bodine, a political strategist who jumps at the chance to redeem herself after a humiliating professional upset by joining the campaign of a politician gunning to with the presidential race in South America.

Initially cautious to end her self-imposed retirement, Jane is later persuaded when she learns her nemesis Pat Candy (Thornton) is coaching the opposition.

The movie, directed by David Gordon Green, was originally about a male character (namely, George Clooney), but Bullock was so passionate about the role that she persuaded the filmmakers to switch the character.

“She’s an amalgamation of an essence of a few people,” Bullock told Entertainment Weekly of Jane. “She’s someone who’s superb in her field.”
