With fame comes famous friends! At least that’s the case for Brooklynn Prince, the 7-year-old breakout star of The Florida Project, who tells PEOPLE that she now considers Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown her “best friend” and “favorite Facetime person.”
“I just love her,” the actress says.
Prince recalls meeting Brown, 13, for the first time at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival where the actress gave the newcomer some important interview tips.
“[Brown] said to, if you’re still thinking about your question that you’re gonna say, say the first part,” Prince says. “Like if they ask what was your favorite part of the movie: ‘My favorite part was…’ so you can think about what you’re gonna say.”
In Sean Baker’s The Florida Project, Prince plays a young girl living in the shadows of Disney World with her troubled mother, played by fellow first-time actress Bria Vinaite.
Both actresses says they’re awestruck by the film’s success. Since premiering at Cannes, The Florida Project has been nominated for various awards and is getting major Oscars buzz.
“It’s definitely mind-blowing,” says Vinaite. “We worked so hard on it, and to have other people receive it so well and love it just as much as we do, is so special.”
And if they do win an Oscar, Prince will make sure her award is well-protected from her little brother.
“I would get a whole glass case, put [the Oscar] in there, put ‘Brooklynn’s Oscar,'” says Prince, adding that the glass case would include a special sign on it.
“I would put ‘For Brother: DO NOT DROOL ON IT!'”
The Florida Project is now in theaters.
