It’s dark. So dark.

The new trailer for Macbeth, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, was released Thursday and it is misty, moody, murky and rather bloody.

The film, which earned praise at the Cannes Film Festival, features some smoldering chemistry between Lord and Lady Macbeth and was filmed in the Scottish Highlands.

The classic Shakespearean story features battle scenes that look like something out of Braveheart or Game of Thrones and we’re guessing that come Oscar time, Fassbender will be in the running for a little gold man.

The film is opening in the U.K. on Oct. 2 and is expected to be released in the U.S. later this year – just in time for awards season.
