McCarthy and Falcone set the record straight about their meeting in 2021 while on Late Night with Seth Meyers, telling the host that they had "an encounter" when McCarthy was a freshman in college in southern Illinois and Falcone was in high school.

The actress said that, when they met in L.A., Falcone insisted that he knew her, saying, "I think I know who you were. I was afraid of you."

Falcone elaborated, saying, "She was very, very goth and all my friends at that age were like, 'I wish my mom would let me dress like that.' "

The first time he saw McCarthy, "It was probably the dead of summer and she had a very heavy cape and a nice shade of blue hair."
